Colorado produces 22 million pounds of peaches annually, and 90 percent is grown in the Palisade area. While known as the Peach Capital of Colorado, the Palisade area also yields a rich array of tasty fruits and vegetables. In season, fresh produce along with packaged products such as salsas, jams, sauces, spices, pickled vegetables, apple cider, relishes, dried fruits; as well as home, body and bath products; are abundant at roadside stands and orchards.
Early season: Apricots, cherries, leafy greens, fresh cut herbs
Mid-season: Peaches, plums, tomatoes including a wide variety of heirloom to beefsteak tomatoes; fresh beans, potatoes, broccoli, melon, cucumbers, chili peppers, herbs, plums, fresh cut flowers, lavender, sweet corn, onions, garlic, eggplant
Late-season: Pears, apples, squash, pumpkins

Palisade’s agricultural businesses offer a great opportunity to learn firsthand how fruit, wine and farm products are grown from the ground up, then prepared and sent to market. Each tour provides a unique experience. Ride a horse-drawn wagon, a "hoopie" or a motorcart; see orchards and packing shed operations. Walk in beauty exploring farms growing lavender, hops and vineyards brimming with an assortment of winegrapes. See alpacas, fruit products in the making, and fruit stands.
Palisade has the state’s greatest concentration of orchards and wineries. Indoor tours of wineries, distilleries and brewery operations capture the craftsmanship of beverage-making. Try brandies and wines made from local fruit, and whiskey made from local corn! In addition, learn about lavender uses, milling alpaca wool, or packing ripe peaches.
